An athame is a ceremonial blade, generally with a black handle but can have a variety of different colors and symbolism on it and it's a main ritual implement or magical tool to use for magical workings such as carving candles, cutting foods for offerings, cutting energy cords, calling in the quarters, drawing the circle, and many other uses.
